Seicento engine control system failure light
Can anyone help me? I've just bought a 2000 Seicento 1.1 Michael Schumaker edition and drove it for about 30 miles today and saw the amber Engine Control System Failure light come on and stay on. I drove it to Tescos and left it in the car park for about half an hour and when i started the car again the light had gone off and it didn't go back on for the 5 mile journey home. The handbook suggests fuel feed or ignition system failure but everything seems to be OK the performance is good. The engine idles a little roughly but according to the ex-Fiat salesman that sold me the car privately that is something quite common on these cars. Does anyone out there have any similar experience with this sort of problem? thanks

Thanks, i was just a bit confused as to why the light went off, would it not stay on if there was a real problem?

It only comes on where there is an issue so if it's an intermittent problem then it'll only come on when that issue occours.
