    Thumbs down fiat stilo 1.6 clutch problems

    hi ever since i have had my stilo the clutch had seem to be slipping. then it stop now if i drive it normaly/carmly it is fine. but if i pull off basicaly full throttle it stips like crazy and will do threw every gear .but then if you leave it for 10 mins its goes back to normal . does this mean i need a new clutch or is it eletrical . or even better can i do something about it myself . cheers

    clutch plate may be on its way out mate could be glazed over, or pressure plate could be sticking, any number of things mate, my advice new clutch and pressure plate and release bearing

    Doesnt sound to healthy to me either..but on the 1.6 its very easy to get it to slip and its been recognised that it will over heat very quickly if its given lots of revs I could do it from cold on mine ..also recognised is the size of the plate is far to small for the size of the engine and if your going to replace it I would recommend doing so with an uprated one ..plate /pressure plate ..haven't heard of an uprated release bearing though being produced for the 1.6..

    i would just use the standard release bearing and get an standard or uprated clutch would be even better, if its possible lightened flywheel, heres linky to uprated clutch thread provided by Phill.
