radiator cap 1.4
having just changed my bottom radiator pipe on my Stilo , i want to double check something.
with the engine stone cold , if i remove the radiator cap , there is no pressure which is what I expect.
I have taken the radiator cap off whith a hot and run engine and I get the same . I dont get any "fushhh" sound like I did on my alfa or older fiats?
The car doesn't over heat or take forever to warm up, normally about 1/2 mile . I also double checked the hose clips and sign of leaks there. The temp gauge shows 90. and never moves above.
Am I paranoid?
1.4 owners please let me know before i buy a new radiator cap.

Re: radiator cap 1.4
Checked for any air locks or possibly a duff cap slowly releasing pressure

Re: radiator cap 1.4
Just undone mine. There was a slight hiss but not a major release like i get with the coupe. Its done 60 miles and had been sat 20 minutes.
Hope that helps!

Re: radiator cap 1.4
No I don't think there is any air locks . Its more the radiator cap pressure that i think might be suspect.

I wouldnt think the cap would be that expensive to replace so I think that would be you first port of call if it were me..

Re: radiator cap 1.4
Every car i've had has hissed to some degree with the rad cap so does sound suspect. Does the cap click when you compress it? Usually a sign of a failed cap.

Re: radiator cap 1.4
Sorry meant to have put rad cap not petrol. Was at work and quickly typing away in my phone! Same thing applies :)
When the coop's expansion bottle cap failed it clicked like crazy when compressed (indicator that the seal/construction has failed).
