These will appear as light brown and encrusted on the centre or ground electrode..the cause of this is mainly down to excessive fuel and oil additives however general engine wear canhave a simular effect on the plug.
Ash depostits can sheild a spark and lead to a missfire and general ignition problems ..the remedy here would be to ensure theplug is of the correct type and heat range and you should also check for general engine wear.
