This is one that many don't question ..the cause is quite often a plug that is to hot an air/fuel mixture that is eccessively lean .. incorrect ignition advance and even a defective exhaust in extreme conditions engine damage can result and the only way to rectify this would be to diagnose the cause and change the plugs to new one with the recomended specification.
