    Default New Schuie owner

Have purchased a schue non gp stilo number 140 and have a couple of questions about the clutch you boys or girls might be able to help me with .

The clutch pedal has a small amount of movement before it picks up the pressure to operate the clutch. Is this common as my scooby has none.

And where the hell is the slave cylinder on these as I am being told it’s in the housing and a clutch change requires the engine out.

What can I say probably one of the most underrated motors around for the money?

Hi mate the thrust/slave is one unit and located inside the bell housing of the gearbox..see the guide I did on bleeding the clutch..many cars are going this way these days sadly to say..

    http://www.clubfiat.net/showthread.php?t=1330

Also when fitted a concentric slave many precautions need to be observed..

yeah the slave is in the bell housing of the gearbox, but a clutch change doesnt require the engine to come out, who told you that?

it is a pain, but my garage just disconnected the suspension, driveshafts etc, let it all droop and get at the clutch that way. alot easier that getting the engine out

there is a bit of movement at the top of the clutch, 1st couple off mm as you press down, could even be called floppy. welcome to the world of getrag gearboxes

baring in mind the easiest way to bleed the clutch fluid is to bleed the brakes as its all the same reseviour (cant spell)

I didnt think the 2.4 used a getrag box and it was only the JTD that did so..was reading about it in this article a while back..I'm generally not to interested in the 2.4 and jtd's so I thought I should to get up to scratch on the subject and pull my finger out .. so started to do some research on both the engine/transmissions used..

when they intro the manual 2.4 is used a slightly modified version of the getag in the Jtd.

when the 2.4 manual 1st came into production it started with the box from lancia, but these ran out and so opted for a getrag box.

mine started life as a lancia boxed car, then the epic box replacements led me to a getrag box, worse than the lacia box, so many synchro issues it was unreal
