What Performance Air Filter Should I Buy ?
Hey guys,
I want to buy a performance air filter for my stilo, i had "green" performance filter on my old peugeot 206 and it made quite a nice noise,so i was wondering what are the best air filters to put in a stilo ?
and also, how easy are they to fit ?

I can vouch for the BMC CDA, its enclosed which is good given the location. Then if you are wanting more do like Mark did and replace the intake pipework. Wouldnt buy one brand new though, the stilo kits on ebay are a fortune. I bought mine for £60 second hand but it was boxed in mint condition with all the brackets.
Just be very careful where you route the air feed to the airbox or filter you fit, you dont want to turn your stilo into a puddle hoover.

Re: What Performance Air Filter Should I Buy ?
Since you've got a 1.6, there's a number of good filters out there. The GSR kit's apparently a good one for yours, though have heard mixed feelings on it due to the cost/lead time after purchase and the like. That said, have a listen...

As has been said, building your own or a BMC's probably the best idea as both are cheaper than the GSR. Plus the said GSR sits rather low in the engine bay to take advantage of a better position for cold air. If you've not got any undertray to speak of, you'd better watch the deeper puddles if you fit one.

Mind you, this is the K&N...

...so I reckon whichever induction kit you fit, it'll basically sound the same. Unless you change the cone filter on the end, though think that may only affect the volume rather than the sound itself.

they both sound good, i dont like the sound of losing 5BHP though!
if i purchase an induction kit, will any garage fit them for me or will it have to be a specialised tuning garage?

Re: What Performance Air Filter Should I Buy ?
Most independent garages will do this for you. But if its to be done properly you will need to remove the old air box, which when I did mine comes out from under the car.
Id budget on about hours labour - but be prepared for them to be negative about it. nearly all my cars have been modified in one way or another, and mechanics always say " itll run better without that cone on mate - your not at the dragstrip!" and stuff like that.

yep i will vouch for the noise the K&N's make, but thats about it, unless you get there UBER expensive Typhoon kits, then there not really worth the money.
my 2.4 with a 57i did sound really nice though
