The Punto HGT and Barchetta both use the 1.8 16v VIS engine, but with a different ECU's. Cant remember off the top of my head what the Stilo uses but the Punto HGT and Barchetta both use Hitachi ECU's, so there may be some other differences with sensors or otherwise.

Hi, thanks that's Great. I only need a bare engine so I can do a regrind/rebuild etc so that when the inevitable happens to my current one I will be ready for a change over. Mine makes a real hollow empty rumble when it starts and goes away when the oil pressure comes up. I think its the main bearings, no smoke and it still goes really well. if I stop the engine and start it again, its fine. If I leave it for a few hours the sound is there again. I just did 500 miles on a trip and worried it would blow but on my return it was still the same ie not worse. this is what makes me think I may have time to get one ready! Frazer

Hi Dan - I think my Stilo has the Hitachi ECU as my mechanic took great delight in pulling my leg about not liking Jap Crap.......
