Sorry matey, forgot what car you drive, Jtd - Check the connection on the sensor.
Top of engine (remove cover obviously) - at the back, small plug goes into cover of engine. The sensor is attached to engine with a single torx bolt. (The plug has an orange rubber seal inside, and to help, is situated next to throttle body)
Remove sensor, clean with carb cleaner gently and replace, double check plug is connected correctly and there are no loose pins inside.
HOWEVER not sure the symptoms sound like a MAP fault.
Sounds more like a "MAF" fault, can you double check or provide the diag codes mate

Ok listen up I vill syt ziss once only..

Disconnect the sensor and clean up the contacts with contact cleaner ..dont put it back in just yet but start up the engine ..it will play up and generally be a bit of a bitch and throw up the PO105 code but dont despair PNL is here..

Now switch off and put the cleaned sensor back in clear all codes and take her for a blast..by disconnecting and running and then clearing the code the ecu will start with fresh parameters ..OH looky I got a map sensor were I never had one before the ecu with think..yep you've tricked it and hopefully its save you £85 for a new sensor..

Just send the money to me instead..

Halfords, Motorworld, any Motor Factors. Use carb cleaner casue it evaporates really well without trace

I use one from maplins £3.59p cheap as chips and does what it says on the tin..might also be worth checking the throttle body inlet valve for cleanliness ..refer to the guide for that one..
