EGR valve
Hi peeps,
just been out fault finding on my motor, she ran like a dog last night, im glad it was nearly 3am - plumes of smoke and no power below 2.5k.
the most annoying part was the really harsh stalling at traffic lights -
anyways, maf was good and clean, other than usual oil in the bottom not to bad at all.
Ive blanked of the egr and took her out, yippee the cars back up to its lively self.
I dont have time to strip it down today as im due to go to work in less than 30 min, but does anyone know if a clean up is just the ticket for these valves or should i really get a replacement? - i will be able to clean it up tomorrow though as im off.
Ive been looking for a replacement that i can go and pick up so the car isnt dead long - i have been unsuccessful - euro car parts have nothing listed, ebay have a used one at £47 (but i dont like to ever by used parts - recon is fine but not used - you never know how good those parts are).
i knew it wouldnt be long before i got a problem with the new car lol.

Re: EGR valve
thanks mate, just ordered one, infact i ordered a second hand one off ebay in the end as well earlier (only £30) as a1 were quoting me over £200 for just the solonoid. ive now got two winging there way to me, i suppose its good to have a spare as they are not the most reliable of parts.
looking at it it seems that fiat have now switched to a dc motor to save these failures - i wonder if there is a retro fit kit... suppose not. lol

Re: EGR valve
agghh still waiting for one of the valves to arrive, ive been driving the car with it isolated atm but am not happy doing so, im sure that baked bean tin is gona fail and strip the turbo blades and or get stuck in a inlet valve.
hopefully one will arrive shorly
i will keep you posted.

Re: EGR valve
all done, the car seems good again, but wont know for sure until i take her out. pulling away just outside the house it seems fine and not struggling, i can hear the turbo spinning know much earlier.
i tested the old solenoid whilst the egr was still blocked and there was no movement from the armature, even a tap with a hammer didnt move it so its well and truely dead.
much happier now
