Please...not the head gasket again !!?
i was driving to crewe this morning and noticed my temp gauge was above normal, i carried on for a bit and it was steadily rising, and then dropping then rising to near red zone, so i pulled up and whipped open the bonnet and the coolant tank was bare !
i say bare, there was a little puddle of water at the bottom and thats it, so i filled her up with tap water, ran it for a bit and let the water sink through the radiator, looked good, i checked it again once i got to crewe and found it had lost almost half the water i put in !
so i fills her up again and drove back to manchester, i checked again and it was the same level, so hopefully she just needed a good refill, id not topped her up with water since april and i drive some miles doing my job,
hopefully its not the head gasket again tho *pray*

Sorry about that ..I should have said water..any water on dipstick..water on the dipstick shows evidance of head gasket failure..if there is water in the sump then dont drive the car..[my apology for the error]
hard work these forums ..I dont envy my husband one bit..

Re: Please...not the head gasket again !!?
Also mate check the oil filler cap. Coolant + oil usually makes a nice emulsion, looks like mayonnaise.
If the weather isnt to bad or your car is garaged park it over some newspaper and make sure its not leaking. The fact youve got a high temp showing means there is coolant near the sensor as when its nearly empty it will show a lower temperature.
If youve any signs of the above get it to a garage and get the compression checked. Last thing you want is a head skim/gasket and all that. Not exactly cheap.
