1.6 has the same intake so, should be fairly simple

The 1.8 has a maf but its located in the throttle body [vane type]..but for some reason a kit doesnt effect the maf in the same way it does on the 2.4 ..strange one but true..
International man of mystery
Wit, sarcasm, you get it all from me..

found a BMC CDA on driftworks £100
kit was for a 1.8t Golf but i'm sure can be made to fit your car

Indeed you did and cheers for that, I ended up only getting the filter from there as the pipe work was all a good bit cheaper from Auto Performance Silicone Hoses ...though still trying to chase them up on a £6.50 part I cancelled the order on and haven't had the money refunded yet - been near 2 months now :(

muppet how much did you pay for yours in the end? and Red i think that's gonna be the case of you building one up for meh, cause i cant understand a blooming thing about them, well a bit, but obviously you've got far more experience than i do, so i think you will be involved in it all

(obviously if you dont mind)

I think it came to under £90 with all the parts I had to get, though could've been less if I didn't try and make the t-piece small enough to fit in the original inlet hose, which it didn't anyway
The thing that threw me were the hose sizes. Because of the diameter of the TB and the inlet hosing, it wasn't the easiest of tasks for me to find sections that would all connect together. Ended up using some washers to make sure the links were all air-tight though the difference in pipe size was negligible, I wanted to make sure it wasn't going to leak.
Basically though, the bottom line is make sure you get the sizes EXACTLY before you do anything. My hacked up inlet pipe is evidence alone that even if you think you've checked everything, some things shouldn't be left to chance. That damn resin on the inside of the original intake seriously screwed things up for me for example
Still, at least I got it sorted in the end

did you make yours out of silicone muppet?? mines all SS, apart from the joins
pretty simple, 76mm pipework and 76mm to 60mm (i think) reducer for the throttle body
though mine was a 60mm throttle body i still used a 76mm 45 degree connector, with a very tight jubilee clip

Part silicone, part alloy pipe. As I said in my thread (I think), the TB diameter on mine was something like 54mm, which caused problems with the t-piece if memory serves as I couldn't find anything between 51mm in diameter and 60, so ended up getting the 51 and using washers to make a tight seal. Was worried about a bottle neck in terms of airflow, but the car's been preforming great in the weeks and fair few hundred miles I've put on her
Just stressful as heck as my thread shows.

hmz, well i'm kinda broke atm, well, i'm planning to get a holliday quite soon and that doesnt help, so bassicly cant do anything for a good few months now probably... but somewhere around end may probably, once the holliday has been booked i think it will be one job to do...
and Red what have you done to the car? O_o
ohh, nearly forgot... so what's better bmc cda for a £100 or a made in my garage for a £90?

t-piece for the breather pipe. I was tempted to get an oil catch tank, but it was a grey area in terms of the legality of it so decided to just have it still going onto the intake. Pics of mine, though I've cleaned up the clips and the engine rocker a bit since it was taken...
