Default opinions on k&n 57i induction

    hey,
i'm thinking about getting an induction kit, probably from a k&n as they are quite cheap... i havent made my mind up yet, even making own is an option, but i dont want to spend loads, witch is the worst bit obviously
i could probably give around £100 for it +/- , well obviously would chip in more if know what is going to be good, gsr is probably most popular and the best from hearing what ppl have, just want some opinions basicly...
    cheers

no no and no again. their placement is rubbish. youll be lucky to find GSR kit for the stilo. infact you may be lucky to get a GSR full stop. id use K&n as a last resort only. far better for less. for some reason, possibly because of the placement, they loose you bhp on the stilo. they sound good, no question about that, but they seem to skimp on development, and adopt, an "oh that will do" attitude, instead of using some common sence.

ill keep my eye open, BMC is the better option, but rather expensive. id rather make my own

I'd concur with what Red says. Best options are really the BMC CDA, GSR (if you get one from them or somewhere else, which isn't always easy it seems - speaking from experience) or you can build your own. Obviously you know my feelings on that last one, though since you've got a different engine (1.6 or 1.8? I forget), it may be easier or harder depending on the size of the inlet and the placement of everything. Remember as well, I built mine (incl a £17 pipe I had to replace due to me damaging it) for sub-£90 and that was with a good steel gauze twin-cone filter. Can knock a tenner or more off that if you go for a single cone.

The place I got my cone, Regal offer a cheap version of the BMC CDA which is basically the same thing but knocking the "1" off the front. They also do a Pipercross Viper clone for sub-£40 in a few colours which may be worth a look if you want something enclosed - being enclosed can help with heat soak issues.

There's definitely a few options out there just don't go for the 57i option. You're basically paying over £70 for a cone filter and piss poor air feed. Oh and the cable ties, hose clip and bracket cause they're worth all of that £70 alone
