Strange problems when realesing accelerator, need advise....
Hi, just bought a Stilo 02, 1.8 5 doors. Really like the car but I have a annoying little problem.
When I change gear from first to second or from second to third and releasing the accelerator to fast
or at the wring rpm the car "jumps". It feels like the engine breaks or something to that affect. It is really annoying and quite hard to drive around if you know what I mean.
Any Ideas of that it can be?
Cheers from Sweden,
Anders

Re: Strange problems when realesing accelerator, need advise....
hi Anders. is your stilo a Selespeed or manual? have you got it plugged into a diagnostics machine? does the engine rev when you depress the throttle? it could be a dodgy throttle pedel sensor

Re: Strange problems when realesing accelerator, need advise....
Itīs a manuall gearbox.
I havenīt thought about if it revs when releasing the accelerator but one thing I have thought of is that it revs quite hard when you start the engine.
I will try to reset the ecu and se what happens. Maybe it solves the problem.
How much does it cost to change the sensor?
Cheers,
Anders

Iīve checked if the car is revving up when I release the trottle and it doesent. Have just disconnected the battery so we will se in an hour if it helps to reset the gcu.

Stupid question but can I change the TPS myself or do I have to get it to a mechanic?

Re: Strange problems when realesing accelerator, need advise....
A ECU reset didnīt help. I guess I have to take it to a dealer to get it fixed but it doesenīt feel like I have to do it tomorrow because I managed to learn how to drive "around" the problem.
