Does a Stilo Abarth 2.4 select speed have a clutch
Hi, can anyone help?
I have a stilo 2.4 20v abarth with select speed gears. Yesterday I started noticing, when the gears are changing, a juddering, like the clutch was slipping. Now as its an automatic/semi auto, I dont know if they have a clutch like in a manual?
A warning light has now appeared saying 'engine fault' and the yellow engine logo is staying on. The gears are changing as normal, but it is doing this slipping thing.
Has anyone got any ideas what this may be??? I can guarantee its gonna cost me a fortune, again!!
PLEASE HELP!!

Re: Does a Stilo Abarth 2.4 select speed have a clutch
Hi PNL, thanks for the reply.
Ive just looked through your link and that is nothing like the problem I am having?
I am only guessing that it could be the gear box as I havent a clue. The only thing I know is that it judders, as if somethings slipping, as its about to jump into next gear. I generally drive the car with the 'auto' switched in, but I also tried it using the selespeed and it was doing the same.
The reason I ask is I am really clueless with cars and dont want to be ripped off simply because I dont have a clue. For all I know it could need some fluid somewhere??? Infact, does the gearbox, gears or something that might be related to this require a fluid and thats what could be the problem???
Cheers

There are two fluid resivours on the selespeed one for the clutch and the other for the gearbox..the juddering might be caused by lack of fluid in either of them..if its the clutch and there is a fluid loss then there might actually be a leak if not it might just need a bleed..if its a leak then this will usually cause totall loss of clutch operation..the clutch is operated by a concentric slave cylinder in these cars if the clutch is on the way out you will need to replace this slave cylider at the same time..its a very expensive job to get done on the abarth and I wouldnt take it to any old garage if they dont understand the system..first off check both the fluid resivours to see if either are low..this is clutch bleeding guide..2.4 towards the bottom..
Bleeding the clutch
Now to the problem with the board reading backwards..now dont quote me cos I aint a PC wizzard but I think you need to configure your settings to read as you want them to..
Click on setting [by log out] scroll down to genera settings on the left click on it and then alter you setting to suit you..if that dont work contact admin Janet is her name..

Re: Does a Stilo Abarth 2.4 select speed have a clutch
Thanks for reply guys, hope fully the problem will be with the fluid etc. Ive just rang my brother who is a lot more knowledgeable than me on cars and immediately he told me to check the gearbox oil level.
I really hope it is that? The only thing confusing me is why it lighting up on the dash saying 'engine fault' and not 'gearbox fault'.
My brother is calling to look at it in the morning. I will reply and let you know if this has resolved the problem.
LOL, I didnt realise you could set the forum like that. hahaha I was thinking, this is bleedin awkward to get around.
"Thanks a lot for your help guys.

Re: Does a Stilo Abarth 2.4 select speed have a clutch
do hope that it will be the low oil, what concerns the engine fault, not too sure how it comes on the abarth, as i'm sure they've got tiny bit bigger dashboard, but in mines whatever happens to engine related thing it will come on, like air sensor fault etc. will make it pop up...
have a look thru your owners manual, there might be some answers back to concerning that thing
