Ok so have given the TB a good old clean and alas the prob is still there, but find its ok when the engine is cold but starts to happen once the engine has warmed up, could this indicate to something else? i read in another thread that a dysfunctional coil pack could give similar symptoms? Would resetting the ECU (batt of for 30 min job) help resetting things.. by that i mean that the ECU might have been used to the TB being dirty and learnt to deal with it... ( that all makes perfect sense in my head btw) and to answer the earlier question, no there is no ECU light on, on any other light for that matter, so feel quiet lucky when i have seen the amount of ppl with the air bag light on.. so many that ebay even sell by pass kits lol
Thanks in Advance
Neil
Coil packs can break down intermittently and will give more problems when hot than cold..so that could be a problem..the way to check if one is starting to break down is to buy one and then change by substitution one at a time..now if you have the old original Sagem coils fitted to the car then I personally would bit the bullet and perchase 4 new ones the sagem were quite naff really and were original equiptment on the stilo..have a look at places like shop4 parts to see whats about..use google and look on ebay..
WOW look at that one cheap as chips..

International man of mystery
Wit, sarcasm, you get it all from me..
i've had all 4 of mines done just when i bought the car, probably 2months i've had it and it had the engine fault light on, plus it wasnt running best, reaching probably about 50mph and that was with a big stuggle... when i went to the garage they told me it was no1 and no3, changed them over and a few weeks later no2 and no4 went down...
but your problem deffo sounds like the throttle body, as i've got same engine and it used to do the same thing... cleaned throttle body, plus all the contacts on the engine area with contact cleaner from halfords and all is fine since then, yet again thanks to Phil![]()
