Fiat punto sporting 1.2 16v head onto stilo 1.4 16v block?
Will a Fiat punto sporting 1.2 16v head fit straight onto a stilo 1.4 16v block?
I cant for the life of me find the answer as all part codes are different.
Dont really want to take the head off to find out.
Main reason for doing this is the heads are cheaper and easier to get hold of.
Any help would be brilliant.

The original 1.2 stilo engine came from the punto Mk 2b 16V iirc and the later 1.4 in the stilo was just bored and stroked ..so there is a good chance it will fit..easiest way is to compare two head gaskets one on top of the other or 1.4 H/G on the 1.2 head to see if it matches up..this still on going then on your cento mate..if you talk to ARC he will tell you that the two engines are the same on the out side he had both engines and worked on both..bore and stoke on the 1.4 is different as I said with the 1.2 one being bore/stroke 70.80x78.90mm and compression of 10.60 against the 1.4s bore/stroke 72.0x84.00mm and compression of 11.1 so fitting a 1.2 head on 1.4 block needs to be looked at at least with these figures because a to high a compression could damage the engine.. .. ..good luck with the swap

Hey,
Engine is in, running quite well and MOT'd. Need to have Remap done if you are available any time soon as its still on the standard 1.2 16v ECU map.
Would you say fitting the 1.2 head would be worth messing about with or better to take the car off of the road again while i do port/polish and skim 1.4 head to maximum. I heard the 1.2 16v had a wilder cam. Any advantage over the 1.4 cam?
I remember you saying cams are not really worth their cost. I have a lightened flywheel coming back soon. What would you suggest other than port/polish and skim that does not require taking block out. Am slightly tempted by ITB's if i can do for reasonable cost. Doubt it though.

Glad to hear the car is now running fine again..but with regards to the tuning i think you just might have me confused with someone else..I certainly dont do remapping or any other form of tuning on a car..if you want any form of tuning on your car then i would contact a pro on the subject..someone like..

Dont be tempted to go to a back street place that doesnt give you full support..there are many cowboys out there in the world of tuning..

Sorry i do apologise, was thinking of CPH (oldskool) thought it was strange as hes gone missing.
Wouldnt be tempted in the slightest, hence considering a 3 hour drive to get it mapped. lol The amount of money its cost already to get the car this far is insane, so whats a few hundred more to get it running properly. Will send arc a msg, see if he has any ideas. Merci.

For future reference its a straight forward swap. Head gasket on the 1.2 is at least twice the thickness of the 1.4. The 1.2 16v cams are rumoured to be better.
