Fiat Stilo Gears Problem (Pics Included)
Ok a family member has a stilo 2000 model hes had a few issues with reverse not selecting took it to a garage whilst visiting family up north
well few weeks later the problem was back took it to a local garage who said the other garage had put wrong size nut in something like and it had come loose so they retightened the nut no charge
now few weeks later he cant select no gears so i went over to have a look just to help out whilst he sat in the car moving the gear stick it was moving the parts and looked like its selecting but it looks to me like the bolt or some kid grub screw has fell out as theres no loose bolts as describe just a hole see pictures
now ive spent the last 2 hours searching for pictures to see if its meant to have a bolt in this hole but failed so went and took photos to post here to see if any of you guys could shed any light on the situation
if it does need bolt what size it it or what part is that called
thanks

Hello and welcome to club fiat..looking at one of the pics
This is called a gearbox engagement and selection unit..you havnt given the engine size of the car but all the manual boxes have this unit..I have searched my tech info both eper and elearn for you and cant get a good veiw of this part so the best I can say to you is print off a pic of this and visit your nearest fiat dealer ..the parts tech guy will go onto a parts system called eper and he might have a more detailed veiw than I have on mine..there certainly seems to be something adrift here..can you feel a thread in that hole.. ?

well went to a local garage where i take my car to be fixed with the picture as fiat was a good 10 miles away
he told me it needs a bolt that threads all the way through as theres a hole on the over side too with a nut and locking washer which he gave me for free went back fitted it works now lol
not bad seeing as one garage told him he needs a new gearbox and maybe a new clutch
anyway just thought i post this incase anyone in future has this issue its just a M6 bolt with a locking washer and a nut only thing i need to do was to cut it to the right length
cheers budd
