    Default throttle body gone?

    hey,
not been around here for a while, was just jumpin in to have a looks whats new now and then... done a few things on the car, changed brake discs and pads(obviously the front so far) and installed gsr inductions, witch sounded mint, loved every second of it, untill this happened...
the car seemed to loose the power while accelerating and foot is on gas, as soon as you release it and put it back on comes back to life... been doing that for a few days or so, so i just thought it was something not really serious... untill few days back it just lost all of its power, you put your foot down and it only goes to 4k rpm and it takes a while to get there also... assumed that it's the ignition coils so went down to my mate and swapped his coil around, just tested them all, still same... so today went down to local garage to connect it to diagnostics and been told that it's my gas pedal that needs to be replaced, apparently fault code that came up was P1221... so came back home took everything apart and tbh cant see anything being wrong with the gas pedal witch leaves me with throttle body or ecu? any thoughts or ideas how to check what's what???
i might go down to my mates and try to swap ower throttle body as it's quite easy job to do on saturday as i dont want to buy anything that will cost me quite a bit, but will be totaly unusefull...
any ideas or help would be much appreciated.
    cheers

Hey, don't come on here often myself at the mo - shocking I know

Anyway, could it perhaps be one of the coil packs on the way out? I know the 1.6 has a habit of going through them and would be cheaper than the other bits you've mentioned. Saying that, the tb's a cheap replacement if you do it yourself I think. Well, it is on the 1.2 anyway. Could check the ECU plug connections too while you're at it, no harm in doing so.

some reason i thought i mentioned it, but obviously didnt... checked coils last week and it was still same, ecu connections aswell, all the plugs in the engine area are soaked in contact cleaner well, gonna swap over throttle bodies with zer0's tommorow and see whether that will do any good, if so then i'll probably get one of ebay as i saw few of them on there for 1.6, obviously used, but will fix it even temporarily till i will get some money to get a refurbed one, or i might not even need one after all will let u know what's what tommorow...

well been to fiat garage today and they havent shed much light on my mystery... they said it could be anything, wiring, ecu, throttle body, pedal or even few more things... but i've gone to another car electrician witch said that starting with fuel filter would be a good start...

That's a pretty poor state of affairs if the Fiat garage can't tell you anything specific about a car made by them

idd thats what i thought, they just said that for them to get involved would cost me alot of money and it probably wasnt a lie knowing their prices of labour... the only good thing was they havent charged me a penny for connecting it to diag... but finally i think my luck has turned around *touch wood*, no *touch wood many times and intensively*, i've bought myself used pedal from ebay after being at another place witch told me that 99% it will be pedal, guess what! it wasnt! but for that reason i've gone thru every single connector i could see under the bonnet sprayed it all with contact cleaner and for last couple of times i drove the car it has gone perfectly fine! even the engine managment light has gone i think it was the fusebox under the bonnet, as i've disconected it and took all the fuses and everything that was there to pieces and obviously sprayed again... good help i'm hoping it's all finished...

well all the wood touching and everything else didnt help, gone back to where it was this morning... havent got a bloody clue what is happening to it...
got a new symptom aswell when accelerating the car starts to struggle and sort of dies, obviously as it's moving and in gear it doest, but all the beeping starts as it was just turned on and the weirdest one is that the temp gauge goes right up to the red flashes the message that temperature is too high, then goes down... it also struggles to iddle, just drops down to 500rpm and jumps back to ~1k for a few seconds, then back again

The engine temp going up and the warning is a common software issue on the GPs iirc. So you might need a software update.

well i might leave that till the previous has been sorted, i think things might be moving forward as i've spoke to one of the car electricians today and explained it all, he actually agreed to me! witch was quite weird tbh, as they all want to diagnose it at start and take £45 for something that i've told them about already... he said he will look into things and i'll have to call him first thing in the morning, so i'm hoping he would pop into my work (as he's mobile) and start messin with the wires
