I attended SpaItalia 2010
This weekend just gone has been probably the best weekend I've had in a very very very long time.
Basically, Fiat Coupe Club UK arranged for its members to attend the historic event at the world famous racing course Spa-Francorchamps. Think of it like Brooklands, Gaydon, etc but with a Formula 1 race track to drive on.
Awesome almost covers it. There were about 54 coupes in attendance, 1 turbo Bravo and 1 Marea. The rest were assorted Fiat cars, Alfas and exotics. So it was very much like Brooklands in that the cars were out on display.
As a Coupe attendee I had a 30 minute unlimited Coupe only session both on Saturday and Sunday (with crash helmet). I also bought a 1 hour 'Grande Parade' session that had a pace car with any car.
What a track, it really is so awesome. My Coupe did me rather proud. Although it was annihilated by standard 20VTs on the straight on acceleration, I was able to stay bang on their arse on the corners. I think this was down to the brake set up of Yellowstuff pads and 3G discs - they came alive and I was able to brake really late and stay with the crowd.
Had an interesting battle on the 2 Coupe sessions with a VIS Coupe. It was able to out-accelerate me on the straight slightly but couldn't do the corners as well so I had enough of an edge to overtake it along with some more sedate 20VTs!
Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres I was running on and these did a stirling job of handling the corners - no traction was lost and grip was solid throughout despite hacking through the corners!
I think added with a strut brace and Bilstin shocks all round, it would go round the corners on rails. It was good as it was, but I think it would be very rapid with some upgrades.
Comments on the whole were very encouraging from "for a 20V you were going some", etc. So I'm most happy with the performance :)
Don't get me wrong, the 20VT is still a much much faster engine and should be quicker in every aspect but the 147bhp NA engine gave a damn good spirited and enjoyable ride. For a 141k mile engine Coupe, she did well.
If anyone is interested in the pictures, you can find some here:

I did take more (650 in total) but wasn't going to upload everyone to my site :) Also got plenty of video footage which I shall post on YouTube in due course.

Re: I attended SpaItalia 2010
Would love to do something similar, not in the Stilo though - engine, brakes just aren't right for the track. Wouldn't mind having a go in a Coupe though, looks like a lot of fun
