    Default Indicator problems

My Stilo diesel Est has just been in for a service. The battery had to be disconnected as a new headlight bulb was being fitted. Now I have an indicator problem .Initially the passenger side front ind will work then after a few seconds it stops working and the clicking gets a lot faster from the indicator unit yet all the other indicators work normally.

have you check all of the bulbs, the indicators will flash fast if a bulb needs replaced?

The bulb is working OK . It does indicate for a couple of seconds then stops. If I then turn the indicators off and do it again the same thing happens. This has happend before about 6 months ago and again just after a headlight bulb had been fitted .I think it just started working normally after about a week but I'd like to know if there is a quick fix for it or why its happening.

only thing you could do mate is check the relays. if they are okay
then it'll be new indicator stalks.

Indicator relay is part of the body computer iirc so if thats gone god help the OP.

OP, Id check the connection on bulb, and they back of the headlamp. For the price of a new bulb I'd change it also, just incase its some sort of a defective bulb.

Hi Brendan welcome to the forum ..Just one little comment to add to this thread and that is while i owned a stilo I tried to steer clear of messing about with the electronics of the car cos TBH is a night mare with a very sensitive can bus system..but I do wonder why the garage disconnected the battery in the first place to fit a bulb when there isn't any need to..

    Another stilo mystery maybe..

indeed that is quite interesting why they would need to disconect the battery for a bulb change
by the looks of it i'd say it is something to do with the relay...

Wasn't the N/S they changed was it? Might have removed the battery to gain access, hence its disconnection.

As far as bulb flashing a few times, still does't mean that it as a whole isn't defective in some sort of way.

Yes it was the NS headlight that needed changed .I did give him the diagram for dropping the bumper but there was a problem with some of the bolts hence the removal of the battery.
