    Default gearbox wont go up the gears

    my 2.4 stylos gearbox will not go above 2nd gear it wont go higher in auto or manual.Also it keeps asking for oil,i have put oil in but it still says it needs more.I have put about 3 litres in so far.Fiat can not look at it for 3 weeks so has anyone got any advice they could give me.Thanks Donna

    i dont really know, but gearboxs fail a lot on stilos, its likely to be that unfortunatley

    phil or scottie will probs know more.

    Do you have any warnings other than the oil warning?

    The brake light switch is the usual one that stops the gearchanges. Ive had loads of oil issues with my car caused by a blocked pickup, so be careful not to over fill it with oil.

    Nope he needs Dan or Greggers they understand these boxes unside out cos they have one on their cars..probably needs resetting though if its silly speed..there you go told ya he would know whats what..

    Crumbs. 3L of CS Speed oil. Not cheap stuff that!

    thaks for all the replies.i have got it booked in at a garage on tuesday so hopefully i will know what is wrong with it then.I just hope it is not something drastic

    See is the gear stick stuck in the middle position between first and second gear and the gear stick won't go cross when in neutral gear?

    IS the gearbox cable selected?

    If it is, I peronally thinks the gear selector cable is not fitted probably. May be one of the horse shoe clips flew off, hence you can;'t move it along in neutral.
