how do just joined as i bought/swoped a fiat punto for a stilo 1.6 mw in grey nice to drive compared to punto,as allways it has a problem when i got it he said it had been diagnosed with no 2 injector fault, had a nose around decided to buy a coil job done i thought, oops wrong coughs and farts about when underload still,if it was and old style fiat i would of said fuel filter blocked(gives that feeling)but i am lead to believe they dont have one!bad idea, well got a code reader coming hopefully tomorrow so i will see whats happening, and yes it does display engine light with, engine failure on screen, can only think otherwise of lambda pre cat, injector,or dirty butterfly on intake, could be plugs i guess, mined only had it 3 days so the fun begins lol, what do you experts think
-
Welcome to CF. could be anything so wouldn't like to start guessing until you've got the fault codes. Jon.

well read them today ,says multiple missfire, cylinder 1,cylinder 2,and forgot but something about bank 1 oxygen fault or something like that, replaced coil on 2 as well,i'm thinking lamda pre cat,but after i cleared codes today i have come to think it is heat that effects one or more sensor's becaurse when it's cold she starts straight away runs ok,after 3 little trips around town she started to play up like a sudden loss of power/hessitancy ease of throttle change down then ok ,but have found when its hot at a stand still engine running you can rev gently on throttle ok,but if you flick throttle it hickups before acting .got a lambda probe coming tomorrow hopefully,if weather stays dry allbe it cold will see if i can get an hr to clean throttle body, what do you guys think any input would be great
-
Ideally need the codes, if it's heat related however it sounds typical of crank possition sensor being faulty.

you reckon the crank sensor ,thought when they went you were dead in the water, would that give me a really bad missfire under load ?
-
Misfire under load not nessecarily but if you've issues starting when cold, but not when warm it can be the early signs of it being on its way out. Like you say if it fails completely its normally game over.

yep i can iron that out then she starts good hot or cold, just won an inlet manifold and injectors so may swop the lot and see, after having a read about could be injector/wireing/lambda.well waiting for lambda to come and new plugs, will be getting the other injector manifold next week so hopefully should have an answer to this problem by next week weekend
-
Lambda failure shouldn't cause miss Firing though, only MIL illumination and
Slightly increased fuel consumption.

so could be really then plugs, injector's,wiring to injectors,or the dreaded ecu, hope not there blinking exspensive
-
just been on the fiat forum and one guy reckons it's the sensor on the aircon pump, aircon linear pressure sensor feeding the map sensor with a wrong reading(more air going in so ecu dumps more fuel) wonder if this is the problem with 1.6 missfire's other then coils ?just took mine for a quick run and while booting it up hill started to miss again tryed playing with aircon button, did notice mil light came on then went out, fualt codes logged were p0302 and p0300
