    Default temp guage??

    Hi people i have a stilo 1.2 it is my 1st fiat and was wondering where abouts the temp guage should sit when at normal operating temp i know vauxhalls sit in the middle is this the same for the stilo??? or does it sit below that all help appreciated thanks paul

    It should be dead centre in the middle Paul. If it sits more that one or two mm below that then its over cooling and the thermostat is jammed opened and will need replacing. I had it happen on my 1.4. £18-£20 for a genuine part from the stealer with the gasket and only took 10-15min to fit. Has been as good as gold since :)

    Hi thanks bought a aftermarket 1 for £13 delivered with a card/paper gasket was thinking thermostat was stuck open is red coolant/pinky coolant the correct 1 for a 02 plate stilo was gonna put in about 1 and a quater litres of longlife anti-freeze in does this sound right taking into account there will be coolant in the block heating is luke warm which is a classic sign of thermostat thank you paul

    Use the same colour coolant as removed unless flushing the system. tbh Paul if you don't know when it was last changed while at it I'd drain the lot, flush once or twice with water until it runs clear and then refill it as per the instructions on the coolant bottle that you are using.
