    Cool Bleeding the clutch

Bleeding a stilo hydraulic clutch on the 1.2/4/6 can be split into two distinct sections..full circuit bleed [if you change a part ] and part bleed [if you want to restore biting point due to small amounts of air in the system ]..

First off some diagrams..we love those pics don't we..:)

    And..

    Bleeding the clutch-two.jpg

And 1.8/2.4 and JTD bleed points..[bottom pic]

And where you top up brake/clutch fluid ..No 4

Second dia shows the complete circuit bleed while the first is what the slave cylinder looks like..

Just to restore the biting point of the clutch at the pedal proceed as follows..[refer to diagrams for reference numbers/letters]

Top up fluid to max [brake and clutch use the same one] locate the slave cylinder which is located on top of the gear box [yes its tight down there]
Now lift the clip [2a] and withdraw [pull out] the pipe [2b] carefully until you hear the first click..this opens the bleed valve other wise known as nipple ..fluid should now come out due to gravity along with any air in the vicinity..when you think all the air is out push the pipe [2b] back in and relocate the clip [2a]..

Full circuit bleed is the same procedure except you fit a pipe to the nipple [2c] and bleed using an automatic system as in diagram shown..[ WARNING.. at no time in the full bleed operation do you or should you pump the clutch pedal] this will dislodge the pipe [2b] from the slave cylinder with the hydraulic pressure from the pumping of the pedal..

Please note here that on the 1.8/ JTD /2.4 and selespeed gearboxes the hydraulic actuator is inside the gearbox so the procedure differs..the bleeding point is by the bellhousing in this instance..3rd diagram

    Pic of concentric slave cylinder..
