Default Oil and filter change on my Abarth with pics :-)

Right here are some pics of an oil change on our Abarth, it might come in handy to find your elusive oil filter.

    Under bonnet
    Attachment 256

Removing undertray 2 allen bolts at front edge and 2 screws at back and 1 to side
    Attachment 257

    Various tools
    Attachment 258

Engine cover removed 4 allen key bolts
    Attachment 259

Remove spark plugs with a proper spark plug socket look inside and it should still have its rubber grommet to safely hold plug and replace using a length of hose 8mm ish pushed on end of plug to save cross threading as hose will slip before damaging thread turn anti-clockwise until you feel it seating then you can turn clockwise (Just my own methods)
    Attachment 260

Undoing sump plug with a pre cut container 5ltr underneath the sump to catch used oil

    Out it comes

Now look for the oil filter which is best to get at from underneath its behind various heat shields they will need removing as much as you can and carefully bent out the way BUT be careful as it may still be warm from the warm up earlier, use a pair of decent oil filter grips as its easier but you will still struggle and shout various rude words at the neighbours cats

Just a quick pic to prove it actually was changed as it took a while

Right whilst the oil is still draining lets look for the air filter, which is underneath on passenger side

Unclick the 2 clips maybe a lillte stuck so use a screwdriver

And here we have the air filter element remember which way round it goes

And now after putting it al back together its finished and all better

Please please please if you do not know ask someone who does or look in a manual such as Haynes and be careful when jacking car up use axle stands or like me drive up an unmovable object such as a solid kerb !!

Just to add I bought all genuine items as I have always done for all my cars just for peace of mind, and the other half warmed the car up and I let it cool till the red glow had faded from the bonnet lol

Not my fault (op) I had pics over 3 posts as the board would not accept too many pics on one post, but the moderators tried to put into one post and it wiped off pics ...

The oil filter has got to be the worst positioned filter I have ever changed !!! And over the years I have owned a fair few cars to say the least lol !!
