Connectnav+ Teardown (Dissection)
Here is a quick guide to taking your CN+ apart should you need to.
Remove the four screws on the lid. There are also 6 larger screws securing the front fascia to the actual unit - remove these too.

Now remove the lid. The fascia will also be loose. carefully pull it away supporting the weight of the unit itself. The SIM card slot can be slid away from the fascia to aid the removal, this just slides in and out.
All being well you should have something like this :-

You can now disconnect the cables that connect the LCD panel and keyboard module to the motherboard. There are three cables in all, two very thin ribbons and one thicker one. There is also a metal plate that covers the void at the front, this can be detached by removing the two screws that secure it to the CD-ROM drive.
Starting with the thinner cables, these can easily be removed by carefully pulling up the renention clips at either side of the cable on the connector. These cables are very delicate so be careful. The third thicker ribbon can easily be removed by lifting the connector away from the motherboard.

Once you have done that the screen can be safely put to one side.
Next step is to remove the CD-ROM, which also has the GSM/GPS module mounted to the underside of it. This whole section of the unit is removable in one piece as the screws that secure the lid also secure the CD-ROM.
Start with the cables beneath the CDROM, There are two - one for the CD-ROM and another wider cable further back which is for the GSM/GPS module, disconnect both these from the motherboard.

Now its time for the reciever module. This contains the amplifier, CD changer bus control, FM tuner and power supply. This whole module is secured by screws from the rear of the unit. See below:

There are two by the ISO block, two by the FM antenna socket and two through the large heatsink in the centre. Once these screws are removed it is just a matter of disconnecting the three ribbon cables from the motherboard.
There you have it.

Quick bit of info. Theres a lot of talk on forums about what these units contain. Due to the lame interface somepeople thing the operating system is Windows, this is untrue.

Has a 6 pin debug port which contains serial rx/tx and other unknown signals, easily accessible without removal of cover (see the little hole on the left hand side and red connector). The serial outputs a message (I cant remember what it said, but basically means the Wind River console is disabled and the OS has started
.
JTAG is the only way to connect to the CPU and flash to repair badly flashed units (other than physically removing the flash chips from the board and writing a good dump to them. JTAG is something I am looking into, the pins are present on the CPU and only require 4.7k pullups to operate. Officially for the Hitachi SH-4 you would use a H-UDI interface which allows for debugging etc - these generally cost several thousand pounds
