Default how to remove and clean/replace jtd 115 throttle body

    The tools you will need:

size 6 imperial hex bit (or equivelent)
    carb cleaner
    used toothbrush
gasket between manifold and tb (part number 46547895)
gasket between tb and egr pipe (part number: 46773082 states pack of 4)

    1. you will need to remove these three bolts that hold the intercooler pipe to the throttle body. (make sure you remember what bolts are for what for when you put them back in.)

    2. then remove the next three bolts that hold the throttle body to the intake manifold. There is a gasket here so make sure you dont drop it down. would be a good idea to replace this with a new one when you re-asemble.

    3. then remove the two bolts holding the egr pipe in place on the tb (there is another gasket here so again make sure not to lose it and make a note of which way round it is fitted. i would reccomend replacing this with new to ensure best seal.

    4. there is a vac pipe that connects to the throttle actuator (the black plastic thing connected to the throttle body) you need to disconnect this. quite easy, it just pulls away from the actuator.

    5. you can now remove the tb and replace or clean it. if it hasnt been cleaned for a long time like mine you will see this:

    6. using an old tooth brush and a tim of carb cleaner clean the inside of the tb until it starts looking like new. make sure the butterfly moves without obstruction.
(this pic was before i cleaned it the second time but a lot cleaner that it was the first time)

i would also carefully clean the intake opening and intercooler pipe opening. making sure not to push any debri back in.

    7. once finished put it all back together in reverse. again make sure you put the bolts back where they came from.

    8. take the car for a good run. you should see quicker turbo responce and reduced smoke.

Hope this has helped. for best results also clean out the intercooler pipes and clean or replace the map and maf sensors. you could even clean out the intake manifold. hopefull more guides will come to do what i have just mentioned.

    Happy motoring! :)
