Tools you will need:
13mm socket
size six imperial hex bit (or whatever its called lol)
carb cleaner
gaskets (part number: 46773082 states its a pack of 4)
new egr (optional) (par number: 55204235)
another imperial bit for the exhaust pipe but cant remember size

1.unclip the lead to the egr. you do this by first lifting up the securing clip/tab on it, then squeese it and pull to release it. be VERY careful with this as it is very fragile and you could damage it.

2.you need to remove the three bolts holding the egr in place. these can be removed using a 13mm socked. (see pic above)

3. then remove the two bolts holding the pipe in place on the throttle body. there is a gasket here so be sure not to lose it. (see pic above)

4.there is a pipe connected to the bottom of the egr. you need to follow the pipe down until you find a section where it is connected by a ring clip? you can unscrew this and remove the clip and the pipe will split from the rest of it. (there is a gasket here, make sure you dont lose it)(see pic below)

5. once this is done you can remove the egr with the pipes connected to it and you are left with this:

6.you now need to remove the remaining pipes but first it is VERY important you mark how the pipes are fitted using a permanent marker or tipex etc so you know how they go back on. you need to mark the part that connects the pipe to the egr and the egr itself and ALSO mark the pipe itself and the part it sits into. if you dont you will have trouble lining these up when putting it back.

7. once the tipex etc is dry you are now safe to remove the pipes. there is a gasket between each so be sure to remember which way there go back in as one side inner part of the gasket it tapered outwards.

8. once removed you can spray the egr with carb cleaner to remove the soot etc from the egr. you can also spray insid the pipes but be sure they are dry inside before you put it all back together. there is a little nipple on the end of the plate that that moves inside the egr. you can pull this to see how well it moves and also to clean it better.

9. now to put it all back together. it would be better to replace the old gaskets with new ones. and remember to put them back in the right way round. and make sure you line up the tipex so they fit to the throttle body and exhaust piping correctly. if you forgot to mark them then line them up as best you can tighten the bolts up enough that you can still spin the pipes around. then put the egr back in place under the engine bay to trial fit the pipes. once lined up tighten the bolts up so the pipes no longer move.
tip the pipe that is under the egr overlaps where it connects back up to the exhause pipe for a snug fit. make sure it does this on the trial fit.

10. do parts 1. to 4. in reverse and you are done. one cleaned/new egr in place.

hapy motoring :)
