Default IDC A09 5 disc changer issues

I picked up a Fiat model Blaupunkt IDC A09 5 disc changer off of E-Bay a little while ago. I have fitted it today, it plugged in fine, I have got in plugged into my Nav+ HU with no problems. It powered up, but didn't request a code.

Then, I loaded a disc into each slot. The mechanism took each disc in turn, span it up and returned the disc to the resting position. The HU recognises the CDC and gives the option to select it, but it shws a NoDisc message.

The CD changer itself shows 5 red lights at all times.

    Have I bought a gooseberry?

If not, whats up with it?

    Cheers

    Andy

Sorry mate i dont have CN, but i fitted the changer to my standard head unit and it requested PIN code, so i would be surprised if the CN doesn;t need one too.
But one for dans i think our resident CN expert

In the mean time i'd check all the wires etc make sure they are all connected right etc

If the previous owner didnt follow the decoding procedure before removal, I believe you will need to do this yourself to make the unit prompt for a code (sounds like they didnt :-) )

If you look in the download and discuss section the IDC-A09 manual is there as a PDF for download, follow the decoding procedure for the radio so it should then prompt for a code.

    Regards

    Dan

I'll give it a look, however, I don't have the code for the radio! I have the code for the CD changer, but will this de-coding procedure ask for the radio code too?

I've followed the pdf manual instructions. It says to hold down buttons 2 and 5 for over one second to de-code the unit.

I have tried this, but nothing.

Any combination of button pressed and the like yield no change.

My Connect Nav+ unit is a little on the poorly side, I think I may be on a hiding to nothing here.

    Hi Andy,

You definately need to undertake the decoding procedure to get it working, im 99.99% sure thats what your issue is.

If you have the changer code you are fine. It will not ask for a CN+ code as this is stored in the car. You only need a code if you put the CN+ in another car and connect it to the cars CAN network.

I dont own an IDC-A09 so havent actually tried the procedure myself Im afraid, Ill have a look around and see..

I've tried the de-coding procedure, it hasn't made any difference.

    Any other thoughts?

Is there a hardware procedure to reset the thing?

    Cheers

The only other thing I can think of...

Are you removing the power (bus lead) from the CD changer after the decoding procedure?

The decoding procedure is to be followed prior to removal from a vehicle, so only thing I can think of is to completely cycle the power inbetween. The CN+ gives out both a perm and switched live to the changer so it could be that it needs to be completely powered down.

The below also works for the Stilo, I havent personally used it but others have... - not my own work I might add.

    1. Plug the CD changer into a Stilo with a VISTEON headunit.
    2. Insert a CD into slot 1.
    3. Turn the stereo on, select CDC and get it to play CD1 (it won't ask for a code).
    4. On the IDC-A09, push and hold buttons 2+5 for about 5 seconds; you'll hear the CD has stopped playing (the handbook says all the lights should come on but I didn't think they did on mine).
    5. Turn the Visteon stereo off, wait 10 seconds, then turn back on.
    6. Select CDC mode if not already playing.
    7. The stereo will start playing from the CDC but the screen will display "CDC M-CODE ----"
    8. Enter the code using buttons 1 to 4 (i.e. code 4321; press button "1" 4 times, button "2" 3 times e.t.c.).
    9. Confirm code entry by pressing the "SRC" button (bottom left).
    10. Turn the Visteon stereo off; DO NOT TURN BACK ON!
    11. Unplug the IDC-A09.
    12. Install into your Stilo with CN+; you'll notice it now starts playing

I'd love to try it, but I don't know anyone with a Stilo except me!

Any willing volunteers in north Cambs?
