Neon lights in boot
hi,
can any1 tell me what would be the best option to wire neon boot lights, i'm even thinking about getting 2 of them to put under the panels in front, to light the footwell, but is it legal or i'm going to be stopped by the police penalised and ripped?
thanks

Neon's are only legal if you stationary ..if you display when you are on the move expect to get your collar felt by the boys in blue..

Neons are a bit The Fast and the Furious, and when did that film come out originally...
I agree with all being said, but dont think you are going to have issues with the local fuzz on the neons because cause you are talking about on the inside of the car arent you?
Im thinking about switching the little red LED for a super brite blue one, thats as close to neons as I would personally go.
But each to their own

Re: Neon lights in boot
Footwell lighting can look pretty good in my opinion as long as it's done right. Chap I know's replaced the interior bulbs with blue ones on his GP - looks rather smart and may do the same myself.
Not sure how you'd do the neons, bright LEDs would probably have the same effect and they wouldn't be on show anyway. Probably more durable as well and consume less power. There's probably some way of wiring it in to the interior lighting system though I wouldn't like to guess how you'd do that

Re: Neon lights in boot
Have you thought about using LED strips instead of neon tubes. They can be picked up dirt cheap of ebay, there more durable than neon tubes and personally easier to install. Also you may want to consider a simple switch fitted in the dash to turn them on and off, can be picked up from places like maplins. I have seen them wired into the ignition which seams a bit thick to me personally.

indeed danhan, i'm thinking to install them inside, i know that the outside ones are illegal, cause you take attention of other drivers bydriving with them, i'm planning to get something like brite blue one and thought of wiring them to the lights switch, obviously if they are illegal then i'm not sure if even bother with it at all, plus the thing about the lighted footwell, i think it might be a bit too bright to drive with it on aswell, but i'm not one of them ppl who are standing in asda's car parks and keep the doors open... well used to do that when i was ~19 with my mates in drag races back in Lithuania, but i guess that's when it ended, plus my mate had that kinda thing over there and had no problems with the blue guys, but the law here and there differs alot i gues
thanks for the opinions guys
