At the sacrifice of the CD-Changer I'm guessing... Although the Blaupunkt changer I have in mine has never worked since I bought the car. Crap lol

I actually have an Ipod lead, I might go try it out

do you know if there is one that works with stardard mp3 players or hard drives, i personally dont like the ipod and dont feel the inclination to ever purchase one, but i do love the idea of having one of my many archos player supported, i would just permantly connect one of my 500gb units in the car.
bascally i just want to have a standard usb port that the hu can access - do they exist?
    cheers

Dont forget though the xcarlink doesnt control other mp3 players nor does it offer any cd changer emulation with other mp3 players. Although it does offer CD changer emulation on the SD/USB port. For an archos I suppose you would just use it in disc mode, but then you may have to move the folders round on the device to suit the xcarlink.

I have an ipod, its in the car and thats where it stays. Im with you roy, im not fan of the ipod. I mean you cant even delete tracks or manage playlists on the device and the fact youve gotta have itunes installed is just the icing on the cake for me.. no thanks.
I got the ipod I have soley for car use, it used to be hooked up to my old Alpine setup in cars gone by, and is now in the stilo. Bit of a waste mind, 30Gb Photo that has 5 playlists on it, 99 tracks each..

Some of that new archos stuff is damn sexy, ive only ever played with the old 100gb player, think it might have been a 700 series. Full integration with something like that would be fantastic, especially with video.
