    Default official stilo mp3 player

    hi guys and gals

Ive got the official mp3 head unit for my stilo, it was originally in my 5dr and have moved it to my new multwaggon.
Anyways, it happened half a dozen times on my old car and has just happened on the new car so it know its the head unit.
the machine freezes up, nothing short of pulling a fuse will reset the unit, does anyone know if there is a firmware update that can be applied to the unit as im sure its a software issue - the machine reboots after the fuse is pulled and carries on as normal.
its pretty damn annoying when you doing 70mph and lose your tunes lol.
the worst thing is when it freezes up the unit stays live so the fuse has to be pulled straight away otherwise battery will die (this happened twice on my 5dr because of the head unit).

or if there is now known firmware is there a way to reset without pulling the fuses, ive looked all though the manual and there is nowt.
I would like to get to the bottom of this before i put the in car computer in as this head unit will go straight into the wifes car as she has only cd.
    thanks
    roy

i take there isnt then oh well, i was hoping there would be an image i could burn to disk and then up it to the machine. i suppose if there is a software update it would probo have to be done on the fiat examiner.

Only issue I've ever had with my CD head unit was it got too hot during the summer one time and wouldn't read discs. As for the MP3 head unit, not sure about that one. If there were a firmware update, it could be on the Visteon website as I think that's who produce said head unit and they'd be most likely to have any updates. Not 100% as to how you could apply the update - as you say it could be burnable to CD and then read by the head unit, but not sure if there's another input somewhere that is needed to be used or if it could even be a dealer only update.

Probably not helped much, but thought it might be useful to think out loud

do you know what i hadnt thought of that..... i got the unit because a friend worked at visteon here in basildon (mine was an original beta unit), thats now closed - i will email them to see if they can help as im 100% sure its a firmware issue.
thanks for the heads on that one i fell a bit dumb lol.
ps there are no more connections on the mp3 unit than there are on the cd and cassette unit - infact they are identicle to the cd units except they say mp3 where compact disk is shown.

Ah cool, glad I could help

Have been thinking of replacing my own head unit but probably with an after market double din unit of some sort. Probably won't happen for ages though, haven't been playing much music since I put the induction on
