Question Radio mute on standard HU.

Is there any of the connection at the rear of the Visteon unit (100% standard and un-fancy CD version) that will mute the radio when using a handsfree kit (connected, not BlueTooth). Antenna signals and driving safety are the reasons here. On aftermarket headunits there is always a radio mute...

    Hi Morty,

Yes apparantly you can connect up phone muting to the standard Visteon and you can also patch the audio through the headunit too.

Its explained in the manual, which is in the download section - or here http://www.clubfiat.net/dan/Visteon/...und_System.pdf (Its on page 72)

Or to make it easier Ive compiled the pinouts on the attached image

For muting i would have thought you would just require C12(mute) and C9 (gnd).

    Good luck

    Dan

This is fantastic! Even route the audio through it aswell. That would avoid the ugly speaker that is bundlet with the carkit (Siemens).

It's all coming back to me now... I remember when doing the amp install, I bought something that should provide low level line-out and an amp "off" trigger. Yeah right, as that worked. :) The only thing the Visteon said, was "phone" on the display... So - I will go get that plug again, and use the pre-wiring from it and solder them together. I'll ofcourse take pictures and post up. But you will have to wait until Easter.

It worked like a dream. The phone "ECU" mounted behind the upper glove box. Live and switched +12V from the ignition barrel and all other connections worked perfectly. The green mini-iso was necessary for the phone function on the Visteon OEM head unit. CD or radio shuts off on incoming and outgoing calls, a phone menu appears with all volume controls like volume, tone, fader etc. When the call is done, the CD starts from where it stopped.

Now I have a legal phone in the car. Just waiting for a bracket to fit around the center vents to fit the phone holder / charger / external antenna.
