Fiat Stilo Abarth
A nice car that is sporty, goes well and is comfortable, but when it goes wrong boy does it go wrong and the cost is way over the top.
Cam Belt change Over £630 and took nearly 3 weeks to do. Only original Fiat parts used by garage.
Radiator over £400 nearly a week to repair. Only original Fiat parts used by garage.
Gear box stuck in second gear, first garage diagnosed clutch and slave cylinder cost £1800. Car still stuck in second gear after replacing clutch and slave cylinder. Garage unable to find fault suggested I take it to another Fiat dealer.
Taken to another Fiat dealer, dealer diagnosed actuator on Sellispeed. Actuator replaced and test driven and valeted at a cost £920. Drove out of garage with oil fom engine and gear box pooring out every where. The car did not drip one drop of oil before going into the garage,
Taken back to Fiat garage who claim it was nothing to do with the work thay had carried out, cost of repair £500.
The car was taken to the first garage for the gear box fault on th 9th November 2008 it is now 26th May 2009 and I still have not got the car back.
My advice to anybody don't buy any Fiat Abarth, Fiat garages don't have a clue how to repair them and the cost of repairs are stupid. You don't have any legal rights, soon as they touch your car you are liable for all labour costs even if they don't repair it.
I would never touch anything made by Fiat, worst thing I ever bought.

Re: Fiat Stilo Abarth
those prices are way way over the top. cambelt was 320 quid, from my dealer and took a day. so me thinks you have been diddled.
sorry about your experience with your car, but seems like a poor garage rather than the car itself.
anything wrong with the gearbox is usually 9 times out of 10 the actuator, and it only needs recalibrating on the examiner at a cost of about 60 quid.
so have been well and truely fiddled mate.
and please dont slag all fiats off just because yours has had shoddy workmanship done. as i said, i am sorry about your experience but its more down to the garage than the car.
we never tell anyone to go to a dealer unless its absolutly the last resort.
i had one, and never had any problems apart from the ones i caused myself.
want a car you just get in and drive, dont by italian. by jap. but there boring.
italian cars need alot of care and the service schedule needs to be on time or early.
you have come on to a stilo site and started slagging it off, bit late for that.
should have come on sooner and we could have advised you to get the job done quickly, cheaply, and little fuss.
