Default My Alfa 156 Mod Story

So, 1st on the list was a induction kit, and having been let down by pete and the K&n typhoon and such like are so expensive, i decided to go my own route.

first thing was materials, where to get the pipes etc.

www.Regals-Motorsport.co.uk - came to my rescue and everything at really good prices.

    i needed

1x 90 degree rubber elbow join for the throttle body
1x straight 150mm pipe plus (has attatchement for the breather pipe)
    2x 76mm rubber joins
    and
    1x Air Filter.

all of the above made by Apiro.

now next was what to do with the MAF and the housing. as some of you know the MAF is removed from the casing for the k&n typhoon and GSR etc and knowone yet does an off the shelf adapter for MAF's.

So i have to use the original casing. But the casing incorporates a mesh type film accross one side, both plastic and metal wire, so this needs to be removed, easier than i thought.

As i had already done this to the stilo and worked a treat, so nothing getting in the way of airflow.

now choice of actual filter. either cotton guaze ot stainless steel mesh, i chose the later because of a few things.

    1. stainless filters dont need oil,and dont come oiled so theres extra bonus for protecting the MAF. Toyota actually recommend Apexi filters as these are one of very few cotton guaze filters that DONT come pre oiled.

    2. The flow better than their cotton guaze and foam counterparts.

    3.Sound crisper. (kid in me)

Right all the parts together, let the constructing begin.

now i dont have any photos of the build process as i had already started doing it and was waiting for the final part this morning. So i made it all when i came home at 3, thats why i was excitied scottie.

It could have been neater i suppose but to many bends and joints needed to let me put it where i wanted it.

which was, down under the battery tray, but not too low as to make it an engine straw, and not close to the engine as to cause major heat soak. infact there will be a heat sheild at a later date.

right, pics of the final product.

Looks brilliant, noticing a performance gain already? Guessing it can't be hurting the sound of the engine

How much did it all come to as well? I'm still interested in maybe doing this myself as well
