    Default National Speed Limit Petition

Saw this on FF and thought I should post the link here for anyone wanting to sign up. Though there are benefits to lowering the limit, the roads themselves need an overhaul. Something I think the government always miss as enforcing speed limits is always going to be cheaper than sorting out roads

Not sure how effective a petition like this will actually be, the government don't often listen to public opinion on such matters that often. I mean, nothing came of me signing the Clarkson for PM petition

Can't remember specifically, but it's been a topic the past few months. They covered it on Fifth Gear this week for example.

A problem which exists is that the local councils wouldn't change the signs. It'd still be just the white circle with the black line for National Speed Limit Applies. BUT this law essentially means that each individual council has decision making abilities on whether a certain road needs the limit lowering. So basically, that means a motorist who hasn't been told which National Speed Limit applies to that road could be done for speeding if they're sticking to what they think is in fact the speed limit.

Think they mentioned the above problem in an issue of Auto Express too. I just think it's another one of these bits of government legislation that hasn't been thought through at all
