    Cool Car Insurance question ?

Well as you lot know me little Panda will become of age and hit the 4 year old mark next March..my Insurance is due in the early part of Dec and I wonder now if its worth actually doing it fully comp any more..the reason being that the actual value of the car if involved in an accident is very low and insurance companies are very quick to just right off cars even if they have very minor damage done to them ..at the moment she that must be obeyed is using Pandy to commute back and forth to work and just wont admit that she is enjoying the experience ..I have offered to give her Pandy for nothing and she is saying no but at the same time seems to be taking her time and a very big meal of replacing the stilo....so what you think I should do ..fully comp or third party fire and theft..

I would of thought they'd be very little difference for 'the older driver'. :P
Hell, my old MG was cheaper fully comp than third party (although two different companies- just a confused.com run)
Only 9.80KB for a sig? WTF.

Other than that see about getting TPFT and legal cover.

No offence, but with your age I take it you have tried the likes of Saga? My parent are just in their fifties and nearly halves their insurance bill.

Youve got to shop about Phil I havent used the same company for the last five year. There is one strange thing I have come across my insurance is actually cheaper with my wife as a named driver than what it is to insure myself.

I have been with flux since my modified stilo days and now I have the panda I just carried on with the same really..first they charge me £195 with 9 years no claims and then [last Dec] hit me hard.. I'm not to concerned at the moment about driving and want to get the problem with my spine now sorted and maybe then rejoin the ranks of the masses once more maybe and get behind the wheel again..but thats in the future and some way off I think so I dont want to jump the gun because I dont know what treatment I'm going to be offered..I know what you say is right tho cos we found the same and with me on her's they wanted an arm and a leg..was something to do with points on my licence they said..

There's certain aspects to fully comp I use on sometimes like the ability to drive just about any other car and nice little features like free Auto Glass repairs and the like. But, I can see why in your situation, you're considering dropping it.

If you're not using the features FC brings and haven't been for an extended amount of time, it may be worth considering.

For reference, I'm with Adrian Flux as well, £350 fully comp with only 2 years no claims (goes up to 3 in January) and I've got an SP30 (which'll also come off next renewal) and the ever increasing list of mods. They were a good £150 less than anyone on Confused.com could give me and haven't had any problems with them since I renewed in January.

Still pays to shop around though and if you do feel like leaving after getting a competitive quote, give Flux a ring, they may be able to better it to keep your business.

I finsihing shopping around for both mine and the missus car last month and was very surprised at 3rd Party fire and theft, in the main being dearer than fully conmp, go figure...

One to avoid is looking at companies that are all the saem, i.e Admiral, Diamon, Elephant etc etc
