Windows 7 Anyone?
Just wondering if anyone on here has taken the plunge and installed Windows 7?
Im on Windows XP x64 at the minute and everything is running well.(although do need to upgrade to GeForce 7200 graphics card I have). Vista64 was usless for me due to the patchy driver support?
Anyone like it? Is it worth upgrading yet?

Re: Windows 7 Anyone?
I was thinking about sticking it on a second drive and slowly moving everything over. XP x64 is quite poorly supported by lots of developers, I cant even run itunes on it properly. I will probably buy a new hard drive and stick it on that and slowly move my data and programs over bit by bit. Ive been looking at an excuse to but one of those stupidly fast WD Raptor drives for ages.

Re: Windows 7 Anyone?
Theres alot of buzz on the internet making it out to be some super OS. But when I tried the RC it didnt seem much different to Vista.
I'll probably upgrade sooner or later, but I'm quite happy with Vista on my laptop at the moment, I seem to be one of the few who doesn't hate it, lol.
My media centre is still on XP and thats chugging along nicely. Desktop is ubuntu 9.04, but 9.10 is just around the corner. :)
Only 9.80KB for a sig? WTF.

Re: Windows 7 Anyone?
Dan I'd stay put at the mo Vista is getting there so 7 defo won't be anywhere near as good as Vista.
I'm on Vista h-premium at home and xp pro 32bit at the office and have to say that xp all the way mate wait till sp2 for windows 7 is out then i'd say get it. As for putting it on a second hard drive that's good cos you can use it as a beta for all your stuff then when you do fully migrate all is well (sorry for ramblin)

Re: Windows 7 Anyone?
I did try Vista 64 ultimate SS but got sick of running it in debug mode just to get unsigned drivers working. The computer used to just freeze for no reason, which on a Core2Quad with 8gb RAM is a joke. I will never install Vista again, ever. To me it seemed like another Windows ME.
I wondered about Windows 7 as people had said it had been running very well even in RC.
Ive already got XP x64 and OSX 10.5.8 running well at the moment, think I might just wait then.
I suppose im just like my signature says

Re: Windows 7 Anyone?
Dan, the setup you have now is good and balanced. 64Bit Xp give you the ability to see above 4G Ram and also depending on your graphics card will share more for cash for the motherboard FSB and graphics. If you like to do high end gaming windows 7 is not ready for it as yet.
I am currently running windows 7 enterprise on my notebook with no problems but I must admit that I only running normal Microsoft applications with w7 no vancy stuff. All the applications I use at work is still running on XP and Server 2003 R1 (production automation)
Windows 7 is using kernel technology sort of the same as Linux. This then enable w7 to start faster then XP and Vista and use less resources (Mem, CPU) Open source technology is also been used. Interesting for the future I say.
My suggestion is to hold on for a bit to what you have at the moment till the gaming and applications development towards w7 is done...
Best Regards

Thats the way it should be imo, give people the choice. I will stick with XP for now as some of my software wont work( I have stuff that directly accesses the parallel port for example).
I Im not too fussed for gaming, prefer chillin on the sofa in front of the TV for that.
