New Highway code regs
Main talking point seems to be the 'no smoking while driving' (which personally, being a smoker, I find highly annoying). There also appears to be 28 other new rules in the first highway code revision in 8 years. Highway code can be found here]http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Highwaycode/Driversandriders/index.htm]here.

There are targets to eliminate, such as tanks, or mortar
crews. These are just a matter of getting the job done. There is no real
winning strategy for these ones, just don't die.

They can make all the rules and regs they like cos at the end of the day its the police that are burdened with sorting it ..just as they dont with the mobile phone ::) and I'm sure you dont want to burn your old fella Chris cos if you do Mrs.Chris wouldnt forgive you :D

Re: New Highway code regs
When I first passed my test and had my old Mk 1 Punto, the door card was covered in dock marks where I missed the window :-[ So far no marks on the Stilo though lol.
I read an article some time ago in Top Gear magazine, written by James May. I remember vividly the article was called 'Drivers Ignite' and as I read it I thought 'surely they wouldn't go that far'. He also mentioned how the 'man' wanted to ban everything from changing the CD to talking to your passengers!!! Ludicrous. The police can't even abide by most laws (not eating, not on the phone, seatbelts) let alone effectively police them. These new regs are once again targetting the two groups the government hate the most: Drivers and Smokers. Of course these groups are also the largest revenue generators for the government. They'll learn, but not before we've all been taxed off the road and taxed into packing in the weed (the legal kind, of course).

Re: New Highway code regs
Am I the only gilthy tabbing b*st*rd on PS? I can't believe how ludicrous it all is. I thought they were joking when they said they wanted to make it illegal to talk to your passengers, but there it is in black and white,
Safe driving and riding needs concentration.
Avoid distractions when driving or riding such as
* loud music (this may mask other sounds)
* trying to read maps
* inserting a cassette or CD or tuning a radio
* arguing with your passengers or other road users
* eating and drinking
* smoking
I regularly adjust the radio and change CD, I've never had an accident. I regularly argue with my passengers, and again, never had an accident. I reckon most accidents are caused by irresponsible and just down right BAD drivers, not by a lapse of concentration. If that were the case then they'd make it law that you can't drive for longer than a certain ammount of time (isn't 2 hours the longest you're advised to drive bewfore taking a break?)
