VRT on a schumacher!!
Have been thinking of buying a schumacher as have never seen one in Ireland and would love to see anti fiat heads over here see a 175bhp car :D Anyway, was wondering how much it would cost to bring one in from the UK to Ireland (as theres none for sale in Ireland, that I can find) and guess what the price is? 4500 euro!!!! I was expecting maybe around 3000, but 4500 seems way too high. Hope i filled out form (online) wrong.
All though, I found a '05 one on pistonheads for sale for 7000 sterling, so all in all (including VRT) would be able to have one brought in for 13,000 euro which aint to bad. I think.

Re: VRT on a schumacher!!
they are 170bhp the same as the standard abarth. although that is before peter touches them lol.
could you not get someone to buy it and drive it over for you? i know of a volunteer lol ;)
or would you still have to pay the same to register it?

Re: VRT on a schumacher!!
If south of the border then still needs to be re-registered on Irish plates with new documentation. A family friend did the same thing with her Corsa - but missed out on having to pay the import tax........ will see if I can find out how she missed out on paying that ;)
I'll be visiting Ireland again this year - could bring a Schumi over for you if you're buying :D :D :D ;D

you have to own the car in the UK for a set period before taking it over. iirc its a year.
road tax is also done on engine capacity so good luck with that ;)

Well my plan is to pick one up in the UK and bring it over myself, but cheers anyway folks! :D
Plus if I was to get one i would defo be making a road trip to the UK to meet Peter and get her remapped and dont think i could live without a GSR induction kit :D
First of all I need to sell my original stilo... but I'm not sure should I sell it yet ???

Be very interested to know actually :o Would presume she brought a car in to Ireland from UK, but she had a UK licence? I'm fairly sure i will have to pay 4000 on tax then 250 for new plates. Then have to tax the actual car lol. 2.4 I think is a 1000 euro :o ;D

Re: VRT on a schumacher!!
Our friend is in the 'states at the moment but I'll give her a call when she gets back and find out how she managed to geta round it. Fair play she had to pay for Irish registration (including plates) but she missed out paying the import fee ;)

Re: VRT on a schumacher!!
Well new taxation laws have come into force here in Ireland so VRT has now increased by an extra 2k! So no more fiat for me, will be getting a mk4 golf in the next few weeks...
