    Default carputer or dvd combi?

Im about to whip out my CN+. But i want your views, experiences, and links to good sites.

I have come accross this on ebay and am tempted, but can i buy a double din fascia anywhere? I would also like to put the DVB freeview box in there too, but has anyone done this before? If so, whats the reception like when the car is moving etc? This unit is cheap and cheerful, but restricted. Heres one i found on ebay:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...6594&rd=1&rd=1

Or shall i install a carputer? I can buy a single din Pc for £150, but would then need to buy a touchscreen, and a decent head unit! All possible but slightly more expensive, but lots of potential for future expansion. Does anybody know where i can buy a car Pc unit, or a touchscreen panel cheap?

    All opinions greatly appreciated

as for the in car freeview, i put one of these in a few months ago,the reception while moving is as you would expect...crap!! coz your car is moving and the satalites are moving then there never gona catch each other and if they do it will only be for a few seconds, when stood still though, point the ariel in the right direction and its fooking brill!!

    i got this one

So you think that the dvd touchscreen combi looks alright? Or would you prefer the carputer?

i think the combi looks good, but its all down to personal preferance, personally i would never feel the need for a carputer!!

i have a motorised 7.5 inch screen and a seperate sony dvd head unit, using the blaupunkt double single din fascia, only went the root of the seperate options coz you get more pre outs, and i can connect everything, and if you remember the rr day in feb, daz was playing on my ps2!!

so for personal prefferance only i would go with the double din head unit, you just need a fascia to fix it in with!! ;D ;D

yeah it was the bottom of these two, and as its two single din slots i would presume the complete hole is a double din!!

and the plastic bit in the middle looks like it could be cut out with little effort yeah ;D ;D

    Black GRD: Ground/Earth
Red ACC: First stage of the ignition (first key turn)
Blue and Yello B+: Not sure, possibly battery positive, but not sure why you'd need two.

i think one of the positives is for the handbreak, either give that wire a live fead or and earth, my screen was from a jap seller on e bay bargin!!

the screens have to be made with a safty aspect and thats that they dont work when the hand brake is off, they way round it like i said is the earth of positive!

done worry you can try both, it will either work or it wont, you wont damage it, well it didnt hurt mine anyway!

then again i might be completley wrong, im sure the screen though if its a seperate from the head unit needs to be plugged together with rca cables, you know the yellow vid, and red and white plugs??

    just a thought ;)

Forgot to update this topic, but i finally got the thing working, even took it to a specialist and he managed to get the wiring wrong! he connected the yellow an red together, black to grd and blue to my remote wire for amp, and it wouldnt power up!!! he said the thing was faulty, so i got down home and looked at it for a while got brave and touched the blue on to the yellow an red and it powered up!!! ;D
Apprntly all three needed power, one for the screen, one for the dvd player and the other was memory,,, Dam japs always confuse everything(No offence intended)
