Re: Operation strut brace
will look at the pics when i get home but well done phil. i know you have worked hard on this.
abz i think it is for the 2.4 where the ecu and/or selespeed reservoir get in the way of the omp brace.
phil doesnt think the jtd needs one :(

Re: Operation strut brace
It should fit the 2.4 manual cars and as for the jtd we will be supplying a plate to lower the fuel filter as part and parcel of the brace all the other models its a staight fit on jobby :)

Re: Operation strut brace
It should fit after the fuel filter has been moved .. the cross bar on the brace sits slightly lower than the OMP brace but when an opportunity arises I will try it on a jtd for you ..one important factor is that it doesn't touch anything like wiring harnesses and the like and that was one big fault on the OMP one also the mount on the drivers side of the car has been made so that it fits the newer models that have a revised top mountings on the expansion tank ::) why fiat changed this I don't know ..all I can think of is maybe they were bored and needed some thing to occupy their time ::)

Re: Operation strut brace
On the jtd as we all know the fuel filter gets in the way ..this is easily overcome by fitting a mounting plate inplace where the fuel filter is located and then mounting the filter on this plate ..to make a brace that would fit over the fuel filter would mean that the bonet would not close as the brace would be to high ..this is also the reason why the brace will not fit the 2.4 sillyspeed models as well also it has been found that on the earlier and later 2.4 cars the engine is located in different positions and the later models are slightly further back in the engine bay >:(

Re: Operation strut brace
pnl,
what's the clearance like above brake fluid. is there enough room to attach an ezibleed? or do you have to remove the right side of the brace?
It looks excellent, my only concerns would be the bolts that you mention can be removed to remove the strut. I guess these are taking significant strain during cornering as they are holding the strut to the turret mounts, on the OMP one it's all welded together as you now. I suppose your testing will show any future issues,LOL.
I see you have used self tapping bolts, are you going to use nuts, bolts and spring washers to secure the turret mounts when you do the final one?
So how about performance, have you had a chance to see if there is any initial difference in handling to your car? i notice it straight away, much more stable and safe feeling.
