Re: how hard is it to put sideskirts on?
well as usuall been busy today doing the skirts... got around to it about mid day, as i went to rochdale to get some paint, but obviously got everything that i needed, spent £46 tho, but hopefully it'll be worth it, got can of primer, paint, laquer and two pieces of sanding paper for the end, to avoid the orange peel...
here's some pics from shopping and work, hoping to finish one skirt tommorow, then next weekend do the other and start filling all the cracks, holes, then spray it with the primer

Re: how hard is it to put sideskirts on?
well yet again i was doing some heavy job on them skirts over the friday and today(want them on for the trafford meet
) but i cant tell you how frustrated and piss** off i am, cause i've managed to fill all the holes, prime them, paint them and i thought it will be fine, i'll have them on today before started to spray the laquer on.... and bang!
somehow laquer started making my paint to go away, i mean i could see small bits of primer thru the paint, not mentioning skirts being matt after laquering... i thought it might just go away after a bit of sanding, but it didnt just gone worser...
so i took all the laquer layer down, thinking about taking half day off work on a monday to get some more paint, but this time i think i'll get paint with the laquer in it, so i wouldnt have to mess around with spraying it thousand times...
you think paint with laquer is a good idea or should i avoid it?

As far as I know lacquer's a clear coat that goes over the paint to protect it from the elements and such and provide a glossy finish. Beyond that, I'm no expert and shall (if I get the money together) get a bodyshop of other pro to do my bodywork. Haven't seen what X is talking about before, my mate tried spraying his roof spoiler and though the paint match was decent, the finish came out a matt/satin. Didn't peel any paint or anything though, so not sure what's up

Re: how hard is it to put sideskirts on?
indeed it is the thing muppet, well it would look similar colourwise, it would match, but the whole car would shine when clean etc. except the skirts, they werent deflecting light at all in some areas, the others were just perfect, so i just had to sand it all down, as i dont want looking like a circus van
it probably doesnt doesnt look on a spoiler as it's not a massive part of the body but with the skirts it would look really different, same as zer0's and mini's car colour difference althou they're both black, but still really different, hopefully i'll sort it out by the thursday, well the plan is put them on by tuesday evening....

Re: how hard is it to put sideskirts on?
sounds like your lacquer has reacted with your base coat mate. what type of paint did you use for base coat? 2Pack (2K) / Cellulose / Water Based?
i've used this lacquer when spraying mirrors and other small things using waterbased paints and cellulose, it comed out of the tin at really high pressure so be careful and spray in "quick strokes"

schweet, good news mate. get the pics up as soon as they're on, remember let the paint harden/dry before fitting allow about 18/24hours

Re: how hard is it to put sideskirts on?
yeah, learnt that thing, as last time i took to have a look at them after spraying the laquer after about an hour(says drying time is 20-30mins. on can) and had my fingerprints on them, well thought i will be able to recognise them if some1 will pinch it off the car
