Re: what's first?
i have the avic x1r and although you are right you can hear it buzzing with egnition on but the remote lead only gets power when the facia is put in place on the h/u? so shouldnt drain the battery when the car isnt being used.
with egnition off you should have no power to the h/u at all! if you have then it may not have been wired to ignition feed correctly.

you need a permanent live for the moemory, a switched live for the ignition and a neutral, thats my setup anyway ;)

Re: what's first?
I had the problem of power drain overnight, my dvd player screen all in one had no remote wire, so i conneted it to a +12v and put a small on/off switch down to the left of the steering wheel, all you have to remember is to switch it off, i havent forgot yet, after a while its just routine, your prob like me and live in a built up area, so i switch mine of at night before entering the estate... hope this info is helpfull

Re: what's first?
yeah, i bought the switch today, just dont know where im going to put it yet... ::)
gonna put it in probably a bit later, after changing the battery.
the thing is that i need the dvd player to stay alive all the time, cause it has built in sat/nav and it looses the everything that has been stored on the memory during the power loss.
thx alot for the advises and info ;):)

Re: what's first?
Just remember to keep power constant to your head unit,(red or yellow wire, not sure) this will keep your memory, the only wire your switch should be connected on is your remote wire coming from your amp, all you have to do is cut your remote wire near to your head unit and connect in the switch and position the switch on your dash wherever preffered...
Constant power running to your head unit for memory shouldnt drain the batt, well mine hasnt yet, fingers crossed hope this sorts out your prob ;D
