what's first?
right, i've got a 3kW pioneer spl, 3kW the loudest.com amp, 1 farad power cap and pioneer avic-x1BT witch is the biggest problem, cause it needs power all the time, so the amp stays on and drains the battery dead, my battery is old, needs to be changed anyway. but i need a new alternator to get rid of the light loss when the music gets a bit louder. :-[
maybe anyone has done it already? any ideas, should i get alternator or a new battery first? ???
or a bit better battery would be enough to cover it up? ???

Re: what's first?
a more powerful battery will do the trick i would have thought, my mate had to do this in his yaris, he just unplugged it every night so it didnt drain his battery ;)

Re: what's first?
if you definatley need a new alternator then i would get that first or you will just drain the new battery? you may even find your old batter performs better.

Re: what's first?
well i'm thinking it might do the trick, the thing that bothers me, that it's not like with usual stereo, cause u turn it off, and it turns off, but avic's keep power on all time, that way keeping remote on and feeding the amp, so eventually i think it will drain out a new battery aswell... ???
before the avic i used factory stereo, just turn it off and everythings ok in the morning. first morning with the avic was quite a shock ;D the car even didnt made a sound of starting on >:(
i think i'll go for a battery first, see how it goes, then alternator if it doesnt work.
any suggestions? ::) :)

Re: what's first?
what i would do first is 'the big 3'.
The "Big Three" upgrade means improving the current capacity of three cables
1) Alternator positive to battery positive
2) Battery negative to chassis
3) Engine ground to chassis
im sure you dont need an uprated alternator, no offence, but the audio you have is not powerful, im assuming the 3kw figures are max values and not rms.
do the big three and that, along with your 1f cap, should be fine.
obviously change your battery too, you may want to go for a more powerful battery too

why dont you fit a switch on the remote lead?

Re: what's first?
yeah, my cables are good enought, i ordered them speacially, im not sure about the figures, but about 3x times more awg than usuall ones that in the shops around, i think ~26mm, powerfull enough to feed 2kW rms, but yes, my speaker and the amp are 1kW rms, just need to sort out battery and box now. :)
and yea ozmosis, i'm thinking of it too, just cant get the spot where to put it, got a microphone already in that small pocket near the steering wheel... :-\
i'm thinking to hide it somewhere in the top glovebox maybe ::)
what kinda battery should i be lookin for? make? power?
thx alot :)

Re: what's first?
i think you missed what i meant by the cables. replace the power and grounds in your engine bay to 0AWG.
so again thats:
1) Alternator positive to battery positive
2) Battery negative to chassis
3) Engine ground to chassis
all 0AWG
if your a real power nut and could be bothered, fit another battery in the boot on a split relay charge system, or just upgrade the existing battery to the JTD spec one.
i really need to do the 'big three' on mine, my power is dimming to the extent of sometimes causing a beep beep beep lol

im assuming you got the Pioneer TS-W3001D4 or TS-W3001D2. id be suprised if that and the loudest.com amp would cause any problems your 1f cap cant handle.
just change the battery and fit the switch on the remote lead. if power is still a bit iffy, then do the 'big three'.
dont touch the alternator if its working fine

Re: what's first?

thx alot mate
