    Default Worst that can happen?

    Whats up everyone,

a quick question, what problems may occur when lowering the car 30mm and putting 17 inch alloys with 215, 45 tyres....?

Cool Re: Worst that can happen?

Can throw tracking and geometry way out cos fiat installed a none adjustable suspension on the stilo..

This can cause accelerated ware to the front tyres and drop links etc..also the car will then tram line [tyre ware on the inside]..IE you steering will want to pull one way of its own accord..[usually towards the curb side]..

Wit, sarcasm, you get it all from me..

I'm sure we can all agree that the tyres on a Stilo will wear badly almost regardless of suspension lowering. sad but true and as Phil points out, adjustable camber would have been an advantage.
That said I'd go for the claws as they were an option on some and standard on others across the whole Stilo range.
I've found that with lowered suspension tyre wear has been reduced, but only in conjunction with a front strut brace. My car is lowered on Eibach pro-kit so that's -30mm drop.
    Go for it IMHO

No not necessarily..just make sure you get the tracking checked afterwards and that all suspension components related are in good serviceable condition..fiat fitted 16" and 17" alloys to the car but you have to be aware of the extra problems they might or might not cause..

mines lowerd 100mm front and back . the tracking went out by miles and you may notice more wear on the inside off the tyres . ow and you might want to take the plastic covers off underneath

Mines lowered on the above with claws. Same tyres except I have larger profile ones at the back (55)'. Car handles great, just did the ARB links today, took me all of 40 mins. Did it in the road lol.

Thats the only thing though, make sure the rest of your suspension is okay as well as your lower arms, droplinks. After doing these today ive fallen in love with the car all over again, handles less like a sofa on castors.

About a 30mm drop looks great on 17's as well - not too over the top and a good height for speedbumps and uneven ground.

ummm i would say go for 50mm if you are going for springs. Never had any trouble and probably not much difference in cost either!
