Well I changed my rear discs and pads today and although it was my first attempt it went suprisingly well.
Everything came apart, cleaned down and went back together fine, the n/s piston was a bit tougher than the o/s but retracted OK.

Now I have a slightly pulsing brake pedal, you can feel it in your foot pulsing on & off.
Before i check everything over tomorrow does anyone have an idea or had anything similar before.
After the 8 mile test drive i felt the discs, n/s was warm but o/s was really hot, both fronts were really hot

So do i have one under performing or one over performing calliper?
My initial thoughts are that the o/s is sticking on rather than the other way around.

    Comments/ideas?

If the fault wasn't there before, I'd say you may have a problem with a caliper. perhaps the piston wasn't wound back far enough or the hanbrake could be overadjusted.

May even be a problem with a new disc.

Well, stripped the whole lot off today and refitted. One side at a time i pushed the piston out with foot brake, re-cleaned and retracted again, this time both went back in much easier than yesterday which was a joy.
All back together and everything fits perfect but still got a pulsing.

the only thing i did different was to slacken the handbrake prior to removal but made no difference.

It's not a hydraulic issue as if you pull the handbrake up one click whilst driving you can feel the on/off feeling like in the pedal.
So i'm guessing one of the discs is warped:(

I'm currently awaiting a call back from Reddot Racing to discuss where we go from here.

Sounds like a fair assumption to me!

The thing is with red dot they buy in standard discs and then cut the groves to order so its possible the problem arrised during machining..the brake side of the business is quietly going down the pan cos their to bloody lazy to get of their arses and go chasing the business they have already lost and all they do all day is watch You porn on the computer.. hopefully this will change in the future if the take over of their brake division happens :-X

oh great, that doesn't fill me with hope.
The only other thing i can think of is the direction of the grooves, are the discs left/right sided?

    UPDATE:
Spoke to Reddot at 1000am and they were very helpful, hadn't had any other similar complaints but agreed to look at the car so off i went to Watford. 150 mile round trip but i wanted it sorted ASAP.

Augusto took it for a test drive and was satisfied that there was definately a problem and agreed to replace the discs, he cut some fresh there and then, result I thought.

So i get home and whip off the rear n/s disc, pick up the new one and think to myself, that looks different......................Yep you've guessed it he's given me the wrong discs :groananim

so i ring again and speak to Augusto, he checks and yep he's given me "the old fiat discs" his words. They are a small diameter about 1/2 inch smaller and the centre hub is 28mm deep rather than 40mm.

So he apologises again but doesn't have any more of the correct size in stock till Weds, he agrees to send me a 3rd set on weds with a free set of pads as they'll be shagged by then ( see quandry below).

The quandry - leave as is until weds or put the worn OE discs back on with the reddot pads?
I went with the second to establish of there was a warped disc or not.
The result - now perfect, it was a warped disc after all but what a nightmare. No pulsing at all on pedal or handbrake, YES!!!
Obviously not 100% as the pads will need to wear around the edges slightly before they'll fit the worn discs but i can live with that for a week.
I cleaned the worst of the lip off so no loose stuff, can't believe what a headache this has been.

Reddot = 10/10 for customer services but 1/10 for accuracy and reliabilty. Sorry guys.

MODS - perhaps the title of this thread could be changed as not really relevant now ;D
