Re: Thinking of getting a code reader
All Stilo's use the same port/socket - the 16 pin OBD port in the fusebox. The earlier diesel cars are hit and miss with their EOBD compliance, but for petrols they are all the same.
Based on what is said in the link it will work with a stilo/panda/1000's of other petrol cars just fine.

Thanks for that Dan..very grateful for your input on it..when you say fuse box I take it you mean the one under the dash or the one by the battery

Re: Thinking of getting a code reader
In the dash, right at the top of the fuse panel. I have never used a handheld unit so cant comment on how good they are - I use an ELM327 USB interface, which is a bit more flexible using a laptop but not as handy/convenient as the one in your link.
Part of the OBD spec (IIRC) was that the socket had to be in the cabin, accessible without the use of any tool and within reach of the drivers seat - and always has been on any later fiats/alfas ive had.

Re: Thinking of getting a code reader
I use the memoscan u581, you can pick it up for about £40, and its covers 000's of cars inc the Stilo range.
You can turn of the MIL with it (Thats a saving of around £50 from the dealer diagnostic session), plus it allows for live data, i'e you can run the engine with it attached and it will feed out the results (Airmass flow etc). Giveso ut the diagnostic codes with thier actual meaning too, (rather than a random number and a code book)
Thumbs up from me for the memoscan range.
