QUOTE=Rayv : The funny thing is that my Abarth clutch system is behaving itself at the moment! No bleeding for a Month now.

    Me and my big mouth
Now failed in total. I tried new manufactured plunger rubbers yesterday (Master cylinder). Rubbers was manufactured with a bit more "stiff" in the compound. After bleeding the system (pressure bleed) clutch felt exelent but only lasted for about 3 peddal pumps.

Ja well now fine..... looks like a gearbox drop for me. Anyone whants to vissit S.A? say the day I whant to drop the box?

    Big Bummer!

I am arranging some parking time at my friend's garage with a pit and the very strong arms of my Son to catch the gearbox......

I might be ordering the parts from U.K

    Will keep posting Phil

    Best Regards
    Ray

I will now have to put this matter to rest soon! I do have 1 more test to do before I finaly decide to remove the gearbox.
The test will be done on this weekend, so I will update on Monday. (25 Jan)
I will supply all of the details regarding the test and why I took that root!

I have all fingers and any limb that can bend crossed for this test..... (now I said it...)

I have done the test as follows:

I manage to purchase new set of plunger seals from a company that only deals with hydraulic seals for all sorts. The rubbers (seals) is a exact match for the master cylinder as the original from Fiat. The person inspected my current seals from the master (purchased 5 months ago from Fiat) said that it looks like it was "sanded" by sandpaper and the origin is from Germany and that the rubber compound is a bit soft. The new set is from a Nissan car.... (I have the part number)

Installed the master and bleed system as per spec. I then clamped the pipe feeding the concentric (close to the cocentric) stopping any feed to the slave. The clutch should now be solid as a rock. I then apply pressure with the clutch peddle SOFTLY to see if pressure maintains. I repeated this process for about 45 min with 15 min intervals. The pressure was perfect and the test result show that master and system have no problems. (no leaks and seals maintain pressure)

Removing the clamp to feed the concentric result in pressure loss in about 20 pedal pumps proving the faulty unit.

My piont is that clamping the feed pipe to the concentric unit proofed the master to be fine and concentric the problem. Ok if the master rubbers was faulty the test would have show that as well and only after replacing the rubbers positive results.

Well any way, I have to remove the gearbox.

Perhaps if someone is monitoring this thread.... Testing it from the start as above will give you fast and positive feedback, and listen to what the moderators of the Stilo club say!!!

    Regards

    Ray
